About
A record for the trees you keep.
BonsaiGlobe is a small, independent app for iPhone and iPad, made in Denmark.
At a glance. BonsaiGlobe for iPhone and iPad · requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 · no account needed · designed and developed by Kasper Madvig, Denmark
Why it exists
A bonsai is a long project. Which pot it sat in five years ago, the summer it was defoliated, the month the wire came off: all of it matters, and all of it is easy to forget. Notebooks get lost and photos drown in the camera roll. BonsaiGlobe gives every tree and every pot a page of its own, with a timeline of what was done and a dated photo journal of how it looked.
It deliberately does not tell you how to care for your trees. That knowledge stays with you, your club and your books. The app keeps the record and reminds you when you planned to do something.
What it stands for
- Your data is yours. A backup is a plain zip with a readable manifest and your photos as JPEGs. There is a CSV export, a PDF report for each tree, and a hand-over file for when a tree changes owner. Nothing is locked in.
- Private by construction. No account, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of its own. Your collection lives on your devices and, if you turn it on, in your own private iCloud. The privacy policy fits on one page.
- Quiet by default. One notification a day, at the time you choose, listing what is due. Nothing else interrupts you.
- Native, not wrapped. Built with Apple’s own frameworks for iPhone and iPad, so it looks and behaves like the rest of the device and syncs through the iCloud account you already have.
Who makes it
BonsaiGlobe is designed and developed by Kasper Madvig in Denmark. There is no company behind it and no business model built on your data, which is why the app can stay small, private and focused on one job. What gets built next is shaped by the people who use it, so suggestions are always welcome.
